Favorites

I would have to say that my favorite piece that I have done is my chalkboard piece that I did earlier this year in AP Art. Its my favorite mainly because it was a part of the syllabus, which makes me a good kid, and I think it represents me fairly well. It started as a hand drawing, but I decided to change the hands into claws, and make the background something the onlooker would react to. How many people can't stand nails on a chalkboard? It just seemed right, so I went with it, and I think it turned out pretty well.

My favorite piece of art that was not done by me would have to be "The Scream" by Edvard Munch. I'm not a huge fan of Munch's, but I would have to say that I've always liked this painting. It gives me sort of a dark and eerie feeling, which I like to have envoked in me when I'm looking at something, especially art. I like it also because it can sort of be compared to my art piece. Both of them are of a certain supernatural nature, beyond what one would normally see in real life or in most art. Also, both pieces are extremely simple, but give the viewer the same sort of feeling of an uncontrollable eerie nature.

The art piece of mine, however, only appeals to a small continguency of my colossal list. Portions of it are important to mention, but on the whole, my list mostly relates to the things in my life that I enjoy, while my art mostly relates to the things I don't see in my life, but are interesting to me.

  1. Your hand drawing is one of my favorites that you have done... it really reflects your style and shows imagination. When i looked at the finished piece i could really picture the hands in action and that scraping sound- nice work =]

  2. I really like your hand drawing, especially of the way you did the background... it reely looks like a chalkboard. Im not surprised either with your choice of favorite piece done by another artist. You seem to like doing pieces that are a bit eerie but also funny. Not "The Scream" is funny, I mean it looks funny but... never mind you get the idea.

  3. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE your hand/claws on the chalkboard. I think that you did a fantastic job in taking the hands to claws and then making the background a chalkboard and making it look SO MUCH like a real chalkboard. And I know exactly the feeling you are talking about in the Scream.

  4. I do like your chalkboard piece a whoooole lot Justice! It shows your personality very well, and I know that sounds strange because it's a drawing of hands with long "scary" fingernails scratching a chalkboard, but minus the "scary" fingernails, I can totally see you scratching your nails along a chalkboard.
I also am not a huge fan of Edvard Munch but am a fan of The Scream. It gives me that strange eerie feeling as well but draws me in at the same time.

  5. I think this was a very thoughtful blog! I love in the end how you mention the fact that you like to peint things that you don't see in your life, and that is very true!
this blog is very explanatory of why you chose what you did and keep up the good work!

  6. I completely agree with that last paragraph. The list tends to be things that I enjoy and make me happy, but the art I do often times has nothing to do with that. I'm not sure why.
I agree, your chalk piece is very you, cause you're kinda dark and creepy, and so is that. Just joking. But it's cool and it does portray your Justice-ness.
